Yes, I realize that things and people can only take the power away from me that I give them. But spammers just make me so angry! Especially by the time I’ve been spammed over a few months to MANY email accounts so you know they are harvesting emails from sites and blogs. Today I had one of those major moments. They had once again harvested emails from Mineralicious and I was tired of seeing the same email I’ve seen to many other email addresses I had. So I hit them up and bcc’d the owner of Mineralicious as well to let her know I was calling said spammer out.
Little did this lieing idiot know that I was on IM with the owner while she looked up the site stats and got the IP for the harvester. Easy to see the IP address that was pulling the emails from each state listing one by one. Slow enough that it WAS a person doing it. So long story short, we called her bluff and she was totally back pedaling. I’d love to put the site here, but I hate to bring traffic to it. I may post it later just so all the others getting spammed by them will report them. I know I had 3 friends immediately on twitter that knew what I was talking about.
So I have a short list of why spam makes me so mad! I really hate such a negative post. But next week I will post the positive of this spam I promise. lol I’m already scheduling it and just need to add a few more positives to really stick it to spammers.
1. My temper. I get aggravated, then I get angry because I’m aggravated. I get ticked that I let it have the power to piss me off.
2. My time. I end up opening quite a few of the spam emails, even though I never click on the links. Then it takes even more time if I report them. I report repeat offenders to the fcc so that takes even more time.
3. My replies. Times like today take over an hour up of my time. Again, totally pissed off and my fault. But sometimes I just have to reply to the said company and let them know I’m angry and tired of their spam.
I guess that is really all that ticks me off. Wait until you read in tomorrows post what spam gives me!
Oh, let me decipher spam YET AGAIN for any newbies. Spam is emails that people did not sign up for or ask for. I get a ton because of my newsletter lists. I do believe that one of my quick tips was to NOT send emails out to your entire contact lists because you will include people like me that may not know you and get cranky because they didn’t ask for info.
I know we will never get rid of spam entirely, I wonder if it is because said spammers get enough clicks to make it worth the effort? Do they make any money with their spam? They are curing everything from malignant Mesothelioma to of course those wonderful emails I get from other countries to help out the attorney with a large estate. lol
