Success Tip Tag
Alright, I was tagged by Kara for my top 10 success tips. I’m actually excited about this one because now it puts her in the line of fire for being tagged. BAHAHAHAHA, finally breaking out to a few new people to hit up. Beware Kara, be very ware! So here are my top 10. I haven’t read Kara’s yet because I didn’t want them fresh in my head. But they will probably be pretty similiar. We’ve been hanging out in the same classes and our favorite message boards.
1. Newsletters – This is my top tip by far. It is also my main focus this year. With 4 monthly, 1 weekly, and one that I’m a VA for monthly, is it any wonder why it’s my priority? lol But make sure and know your audience, market your newsletter directly towards them. Don’t fill it up with ads either. There has to be real content or you will get many that unsubscribe or just don’t open it. That is a lot of wasted time spent.
2. Articles – My three major sites would be no where without articles. Busy Momma Wellness is built completely around articles as a resource site, and Little Scrapbook Shop is about scrapbooking. All scrapbookers need new stuff as inspiration, therefore are always looking for new articles. Now Scrapfacts is all about articles. Keeping up with all that matters to the scrapbook business owner. I would be no where without articles on any of these sites.
3. PLR – back to articles. With how many sites I have going on, I have learned to LOVE PLR!!! I am a member of a few monthly PLR sites that are really good. All Health Content, All Mom Content, and All Marketing Content. Each month I am sent many articles and ebooks to sift through. I merely take that article and rewrite it to make it mine. I have no idea how I would keep up if I had to write all my own original content for every site!
4. Domain name – make sure and get your own domain name of course. But, also buy it in the .net. I didn’t do this with one site and a site came up on it. I was so ticked off when I got an email from them. But alas, and I know it is petty but I am human, the site has done nothing. And even if it did take off, it would also bring me more hits.
So think of that when you buy a .net or something else that isn’t a .com.
5. BLOG, BLOG, BLOG, BBBBBLLLLLOOOOOGGGG! – k, did you get that? Not just start a blog and hit it every couple of months. But start your blog and make posts to it at least weekly. Remember that it brings backlinks to your site.
6. Niche marketing – Spread yourself thin. Thin as in, you are the only place they can find what they want. Ok, I know that is nearly impossible on the net. But take your general topic and make it yours. Narrow it down a little more than just the place for make-up. Be the best place for lip gloss.
7. Message Boards – There is nothing worse than a hit and run post on the message boards. Now I’m not saying you need to be a regular at every board you register at, but don’t fly in, do an intro and a specials post and then never go back. Guess what, everyone can see how many posts you have made and they prefer to shop with those they know. So stick with a few boards and hit them bi-monthly. I get a ton of referrals from my 3 main message boards. I’d prefer to stay active with them, than to branch out too much more. But then, I’m a regular on some hot boards. Mommy’s Helper Online (scrapval) and My Mommy Biz (busymomma). 1000′s of posts at these boards, just from me. Yep, I can talk. lol Oh, and use the message boards to your benefit. Make real posts. Don’t just get on there and say, “yes, I agree”. Give relevant information.
8. Goals list – I’d be lost without my lists of goals. Just lost, enough said about that.
9. Budget your time – This is one I battle. You can tell by my long post here. Yep, the longer the blog post and the more blogs I post to, the more I am hiding from some kind of work. lol I am supposed to be redoing a site right now. I will blame Kara for this one. I always have to have someone else to blame.
10. Free classes – Just because they are free doesn’t mean they aren’t good. I have never paid for an online class in my life. Now I know I could get more one on one with paid classes and maybe some better info. But the money just isn’t there and the time commitment needed for a paid class. So research what you can get for free. I will try to keep posting some great resources on here for free classes that are well worth your time.
So I made it. All 10 tips without looking to see what Kara had posted even once. That’s huge, as I’m super nosy! I will publish this post completely before I run off to see what she said. So who to tag? Easy cheesy… Loretta, Dianne and Lauren. Have fun girls!

WOW! What a great list! You can tell you really took your time with this one! I had no idea what PLR was, so I did a little searching! I didn’t even realize you could purchase articles! I’m going to look into this in more detail… it is very hard coming up with topics at times… I have 4 blogs running now and I’m always on the lookout for topics!
Great blog!
Bev
Okay, here I go bravely making a list.

Now how funny our lists DO look similar. I noticed newsletter has been on the top of everyone’s list that I’ve read so far. We would be absolutely nowhere without our lists!
