I’ll be very honest, I don’t have very many sites or blogs that I sell advertising on. I have never had good luck with it and honestly, the last two days have set the example of why it’s not worth it for me. I have my own affiliate links and graphics I can put up and not worry about emails and headaches.
So here was the oddest email to date I’ve gotten. I had a request to advertise on a page on a blog and that wasn’t a page I could allow as it was a guest bloggers page. So I told them that and they came up with 4 other pages they wanted to advertise on and a dollar amount for a years advertising on those pages. Ok, sounds good on those pages, let’s go. I honestly would have left the info up past the year if all this hadn’t gone down since.
This was back in early January. It’s now Feb. 26 and I got an email complaining that there were two pages not cached by google and they wanted a refund for those pages. I truly did not know how to respond to this without being rude. I typed it out, let it sit and then revamped the email in the afternoon. But I truly couldn’t let it slide. I did not choose those pages for them to advertise on they did, I did not change the pages at all, so if they weren’t cached now then they weren’t prior. The reply even said that it was their fault for not looking previously.
Honestly, my reply was I didn’t want to hassle with it and I did refund, that this was why I don’t offer advertising on my sites/blogs and this was very unprofessional. I did tell them that prior to this they would have had their advertising up for longer than the year agreed upon, but now their expiration date is such and such and their ads will be pulled from the pages.
It’s no wonder why sites charge so much for advertising. I’ve had nothing but bad luck on many sites with it. It’s just not worth dealing with unprofessional business owners that have no idea what they are doing.
Lesson learned?! I won’t allow any advertising on a site that I don’t have a policy written up in place. Period, I don’t have time for this and I don’t want to deal with it.

That’s a shame, I would have done the same thing in your shoes.
