New Year’s Resolutions

9 January 2009 No Comment

Do you set resolutions?  Personal or business?

I don’t set resolutions.  I really can’t remember ever setting them.  If I said outloud some kind of goals it was only because others set them and tell you that you have to as well.  I’ve gotten way too old to listen to others about things like that now.

I set goals.  The difference?  Resolutions are a broad statement.  Goals are broken down and attainable.  I want to make sure that I can follow through with things that I set.  So it’s important to set a goal and then break down how you are going to get that goal accomplished.

I was at the drug store today and you can tell what everyone’s personal resolution is.  There’s no doubt about it of course, it’s the same every year.  But while looking for some soy protein powder with no or very little carbs to add to recipes I couldn’t help but notice that there are no diet pills on the shelves. lol

This is exactly what I am talking about with resolutions. The resolution was set to lose weight. Was a plan put in place to get there? Nope, people immediately went to the drug store and bought the latest pill so they can lose weight in the next few weeks and then ignore the resolution for the rest of the year. Instead of putting a goal up and then a plan of how they are going to attain it.

So how have you started off your year? Did you toss up resolutions or do you have goals and a plan of attack?
