Hiding on Social Media

Social Media Marketing für klein- und mittelständische UnternehmenYes, there seems to be a theme to this week. My kids start school again on the 1st, but of course we are quickly getting into back-to-school mode. My daughter is already at soccer tryouts/practice and we’re getting up in the mornings again. I can feel a routine starting and I don’t think any of you can understand how much it pains me to admit…but I’m looking forward to some structure.

One thing I’m already on my way to controlling is my social media. I’m hiding out there and not in a productive way. I’m not pushing affiliate links and most of the time this summer I haven’t even been chatting back and forth with business contacts. I’ve been just social and playing games on that darn facebook.

1. I’m using hootesuite to postdate.
2. MANAGE! Am I there for social only…business only…or some of both? Well then make sure it’s a mix of both and not 90% of one or the other.

3. Stop checking games before I answer emails! I know I do it when hiding. I have to go harvest your crops or make sure your dishes aren’t spoiled AS I’m answering emails. Nope, dedicate one or the other and no hiding in the FB games.

4. Use my phone more. I know this one sounds a little odd, but the droid apps I’m using won’t let me play the games on facebook and it’s not as easy to read everything on both medias. So if I use my phone I end up on it much less.

I have to make sure that my social media time is much more productive and these steps will help. I know it’s one of the time-wasters that I’m hiding behind and pretending I’m working. Time to hit the ground running and get everything rolling as school starts next week.

We can all find so many excuses to not be productive. Maybe we just need a break, or maybe a kick in the pants is in order. The kids are back in school, we should get back to concentrating on business at hand, and get things accomplished. Now I just need to take my own advice.

Practicing what I’m preaching is on the list for the next week :) I know I did need a break, but we passed that excuse being usable a while ago. Now it’s just butt kickin’ time. 5 days until the kids go back and I’m determined to keep a schedule then. Thanks for commenting Grace!
