Plan Your Vacations

I never had vacations until 2 years ago. Hubby worked construction and wasn’t paid unless he worked. It just didn’t happen. Now that he has paid vacations it’s a whole new ball game and so many things have changed.

We used to try and get away at least once a year without the kids for a weekend. But now that the kids are getting older we are finding the need to runaway at least twice a year. I can tell at this moment that it’s been over 6 months since we got away. Since our kids are older, they don’t miss us as much when we get away. But we sure love the time away from reality more than we ever have. So many responsibilities we have now, so much running around, just the norm.

Getting Ready for Vacation

I still have 10 days left until we leave on vacation, however, I am not going to work on anything constructive for the 8 days I runaway with hubby. lol I will check emails here and there and make some quick answers, but I will be mostly away from the computer. It will be very good for me to step away from the day-to-day of owning businesses.

I realize that I am blurring between the helping people and things that I should be charging for because it’s coaching. I think this is because I do not have coaching packages available yet for people to choose from. That has to be a big focus after I get back. Putting together the packages and the info that comes with the packages.

Vacation Time?

I’m trying to work out a new time frame in my head. Well actually, I’m trying to keep track of how many months I can go before burn out sets in. That will of course depend on a lot of variables, but I’m thinking two vacations a year is a minimum. Now I’m not shooting for the moon and saying Hawaii and Mexico twice a year. Not yet anyway ;) But just twice a year when I take 3 or 4 days and do NO work. Checking emails is optional. lol

Thinking of Vacation

Our holidays have been truly great. Even though we did scale back on Christmas like we said we would (umm, yes we’ve tried to before, lol) the kids had the best year ever. My worry is always that they will be disappointed, I’m sure this is every parents worry no matter how much they buy for their kids. Ugh, what a society we’ve created.

But all I can think of is vacation and getting away with my hubby. We haven’t had a trip on our own in over a year and that is not normal. We’ve been really good about getting away, but with my school and then him getting hired on, it’s put an odd dent in our lives.

Vacation is a must

Going where it’s warm is top priority for us on vacation. If we are flying out, it just depends on the money situation to whether we can go to Jamaica or a Vegas vacations. As long as the snow stays away we are totally happy with Vegas until we make a good chunk of extra money and can run away for a week down farther south.

Speaking of Canada

Again, I’m excited to go on vacation considering how much work I can take with me now. Last year when I took vacation I was mostly working offline and I didn’t make enough money to pay my bills. But boy did we have fun!

It’s only a few weeks until we leave and I still haven’t gotten our passports. I’ve heard that at this time they aren’t required YET. But they will be soon and I may as well go and get them as soon as I can. The wait isn’t as long as projected. My brother got his and my nephews in about 2 weeks.

Off to Canada in July

I’m off to visit family and have the second annual family meeting on July 19th. To me going to Canada is not another country because I’ve gone up there since I was a baby to see family. lol

But truly I should think about things like travel health insurance for how often we will be up there now. It’s under 4 hours to Whistler and the reserve is only about 2.5 hours away. Closer to go up there than it is to go to the other side of the state.

Step away from the computer

Being a WAHM means you work 24/7. Just like any other business owner you are constantly thinking of your business. What all needs to be done, new projects you would like to start, or ways you can update current projects.

But I know my husband has brought it to my attention many times, and I’m glad he has, that I’m always on the computer. It’s an addiction and I know it. There is just always something I can work on.
