Well it’s the end of the year and this brings reflection on everything. As the super busy holiday season jumps into full swing it means less time to get many things done. But that also helps point out some major things for my business(s). As my time gets more limited my to do list has to get smaller and more jump to the most important things to get done.

This means that some stuff doesn’t make the cut. For me this causes reflection on whether those projects are important to me or if they are time wasters. Do I have a passion for that project/site/blog any more or is it just dead weight? Then there is one major thing as well. If it’s not a real passion anymore, is it at least making some money? If the answer is no to both then why am I carrying it around?

The next few weeks some sites/blogs will be getting sold off. Some for dirt cheap as I want to focus on the projects that are productive and true to my heart. It’s only fair to myself, my family and my business partners to put all my effort into what is working.

Are you going over your 2009 goals and looking ahead?

Being a good decision maker can help you in business and life. It’s been said that highly confident people make decisions clearly and stick to them rather than changing their minds or being indecisive. I go back and forth with this. I am a highly confident woman, BUT that said I do let others make stupid decisions for me that I wouldn’t have. So don’t let others outward confidence make you feel smaller in anyway. We all have a tough time making decisions in certain areas.

And even if decision making doesn’t come naturally to you, it is a skill which can be built on. Here are a few tips to help you:

#1 – Start small. Even making small everyday decisions will help you accomplish the bigger goal. Small decisions such as what food to eat at a restaurant are not to be underestimated. A good way to start is the next time you’re eating out, look at the menu and decide what you’d like to eat. Then put the menu down and don’t change your mind. Don’t ask your companions what they’re having and base your decision on that – make the decision on your own and then stick to it.

Small steps like this can be empowering and help you to tackle the bigger decisions to come in the future.

#2 – Approach decisions logically. Many of us tend to make emotion-based decisions rather than logical ones. In business this can spell disaster. A good way to help you approach decisions in a logical manner may be to write down a list of pros and cons.

Simply grab a sheet of paper and label one side pros and one side cons. Then list all the good and bad points of your choice. Logically think through your comments and then make your decision. This way you can leave emotions out of the equation and concentrate purely on the facts.

#3 – Cut yourself some slack. Making decisions is a skill which can be learned but even pros don’t always make the right choices. Realize that making decisions effectively takes confidence and is a great first step, but your decisions may not always be the right decisions. If you happen to make the wrong decision, give yourself a break and take comfort in the fact that you thought out your decision clearly and logically and made the best choice possible at the time.

Being a good decision maker takes time and practice. However, it’s a worthwhile skill to develop. Making decisions regularly may help build your confidence level and also help people know where they stand with you – two great entrepreneurial qualities.

5 Powerful Mind Success Strategies

Building a business is a fantastic and challenging experience. You can wake up exhilarated to begin your day and go to bed feeling overwhelmed and frustrated. The key to success is to maintain a positive, yes you can do it, mindset.

Easier said than done, right? Here are 5 keys to help you create and sustain a positive mindset so you attain the success you desire.

1. Surround yourself with successful and positive people. The influence people have over our own personal energy is amazing. Moods and attitudes are so easily spread – think about how much of a difference a simple smile from a stranger can make for your day and then magnify it 1000 times to demonstrate the power of positive and successful friends, family and associates. When you have people around you who inspire you, believe in you and want you to succeed, there’s no room for doubts and even when they creep up, they’re quickly swept away.

2. Create a mantra or an affirmation. Repeating positive affirmations has been shown to get people through tough times and to actually help them truly believe what they’re saying.

For example, “I am building a powerful and profitable business.” Many of the most esteemed business professionals have used the same affirmation strategy to attain their success. To find the right affirmations for you, consider writing a quick list of your doubts, insecurities and complaints. These can then be quickly turned into affirmations.

For example, if you write that you’re always feeling disorganized then your affirmation would be, “I am organized and in control.” Repeat your affirmations several times a day and feel the power of positive thinking.

3. Capture negative thoughts. We all have negative thoughts from time to time, however, negative thoughts and emotions can derail us and prevent us from achieving all we desire. Of course catching those negative thoughts takes practice and persistence. When you find yourself thinking negative thoughts or having negative emotions, find a trigger to turn them around. The affirmations mentioned above are a great way to turn the negative into the positive. You can also find quick pick me ups like a favorite song, a walk outside in the fresh air, or some exercise to help improve your mood.

4. Set goals/intentions and then be willing to let it go. The law of attraction says that we attract what we focus on the most. However, desperation, needing your business to be a success, sends mixed messages and a lot of negativity into the universe. Set your goals and intentions and then let them go. A certain amount of faith in yourself and in the power of attraction is necessary. Give it a try.

5. Be grateful. Gratitude is perhaps the single most powerful and positive tool for success. When you’re grateful for all of the wonderful things and people in your life the challenges you face seem significantly less important and are more easily dealt with.

Consider keeping a gratitude journal and make a practice of entering into it daily. That way, when you’re facing challenges a quick peek at all the amazing things in your life will make you feel as if you can tackle anything. Additionally, an attitude of gratitude helps you maintain a positive perspective and to face challenges as opportunities rather than obstacles.

Success is within your reach and with the right attitude you can accomplish anything you set your sights on. Embrace these five powerful mind success strategies and you’ll build a better business and live a happier, more satisfying life.

I will admit it, I’m an internet junky. I understand that and I’ve been working very hard at it. I failed for quite a long time, but all the sudden I am making major progress. I know it has to do with my seeing money from my top sites. This makes me not want to waste time on the sites that have brought me nothing but work. They have great value, but I am not putting the time in they need to make them a top site like they deserve.

I’m putting the exit sign on a few sites and the for sale info will be posted here as they are let go. I know that many that follow me are looking for great sites and goodness knows I’ve started some awesome one’s.

Lesson learned? Stop and regroup. Look at why you are building new sites. Is it because your current sites aren’t making money immediately or because you just have more ideas flowing than you can truly handle?

Selling is not an easy decision if you have actually put a lot of work into the site and were attached to it. But it is very freeing to let it go to someone that will take better care of it and may possibly take it to the level you hoped for. Unless you are building site by site, you can’t make them what you hoped for. You can not take 3+ sites to the next level all at once on your own. Now if you can afford VA’s to help build them then you are in a different level

Well my hubby tosses so many blog post ideas at me on any given day. Loves to him. lol He doesn’t even have to try.

Today it was a post for working wahm. He knows I just got 4 new clients. Those 4 clients are all starting on Monday. But of course this isn’t in his brain because he doesn’t have any of that in his planner.

But let me back up a little. I have a list of bills to pay that we split up when I started working. I feel the need to cover those bills, which means I need to work. Both on and offline. Hubby would like to have me at his whim to go snowboarding/skiing with him. I agree, I’d love this as well, but we can’t have it both ways at once.

My online income is rising dramatically. I do believe I’ve hit my stride and this is so exciting. But when income comes in, it always pours in. It’s the beginning of the year, this means that training clients will come in as well that I can’t ignore because that is more stable income.

I need to set new goals for 2010, which means new goals for 2009 to get to 2010. I need to talk to hubby about his goals and how he’d like our life to go. We have many options, but I need him to support me in the option that fits our lives the best. I love working from home the best because it is much easier to schedule around his crazy 24 hour shifts. BUT, I am someone that needs personal contact as well. We’ll just have to see what it works out to be.

Do you set resolutions? Personal or business?

I don’t set resolutions. I really can’t remember ever setting them. If I said outloud some kind of goals it was only because others set them and tell you that you have to as well. I’ve gotten way too old to listen to others about things like that now.

I set goals. The difference? Resolutions are a broad statement. Goals are broken down and attainable. I want to make sure that I can follow through with things that I set. So it’s important to set a goal and then break down how you are going to get that goal accomplished.

I was at the drug store today and you can tell what everyone’s personal resolution is. There’s no doubt about it of course, it’s the same every year. But while looking for some soy protein powder with no or very little carbs to add to recipes I couldn’t help but notice that there are no diet pills on the shelves. lol

This is exactly what I am talking about with resolutions. The resolution was set to lose weight. Was a plan put in place to get there? Nope, people immediately went to the drug store and bought the latest pill so they can lose weight in the next few weeks and then ignore the resolution for the rest of the year. Instead of putting a goal up and then a plan of how they are going to attain it.

So how have you started off your year? Did you toss up resolutions or do you have goals and a plan of attack?

As a business owner, you are both the boss and the employee. Some people can thrive in this type of situation and achieve more than they could in a traditional work environment. For other people, this just spells disaster. That is why it is important to analyze yourself several times a year to make sure you are staying on track.

Are you focused on your business? This alone can throw your business into high gear or create a standstill. It can be easy to lose focus when you work at home, as there will always be other things competing for your attention. It is okay to let the laundry wait for a few hours while you work on your business. Your laundry can’t pay your bills, but those few hours you put into your business could reap you many financial rewards.

Not only is focusing on business tasks important, but it is important to be focused within your business. It is easy to get sidetracked with new business ventures and other offers. It can be hard to spread your time and energy over too many projects. It is easier to manage a select few projects that are tightly woven within your target market. Take an inventory of all of your sites and see where you may be leaking energy.

Are you being productive? At the end of the day, do you ever feel like you worked all day but accomplished nothing? Take a look at the tasks you are working on, and whether they are actually important to your success. If you find yourself getting sidetracked by surfing the web, chatting in forums, or reading blogs, try to schedule time for those activities after your “real work” is done.

On the other hand, if you feel your time is being sucked away by answering email, updating your website, or collecting research for an upcoming information product you are working on, try outsourcing those tasks to a virtual assistant. This will help you free up some time to work on business tasks that need more attention.

Are you reaching your goals? If you find that you are constantly missing your goal deadlines, you may want to take the time to revamp your goals. Create an action plan that will be easy to follow and help you get to your end result.

Would I hire myself? This is a tough question to ask yourself, but it is very important. It may sound silly, but perhaps you could write out a job description and give yourself an interview. Are you the type of employee you would want to hire?

If you answered “no” to the above question, take some time to write out the areas within yourself that you would like to improve. This can be a hard exercise to complete, but once you have analyzed yourself, you’ll be on your way to becoming a better business owner and having a better business.
