Picking One Thing

This week on my favorite forums, I posted the challenge to pick just one thing and focus on it. Having your to do list is great, but there are things that are a bigger priority on that list that must be pushed to the top.

This week I focused on my newsletters. I’d been neglectful and hadn’t been posting them as often as is necessary. One of them I’m sure it is because I was making the newsletter too big. I have decided to scale it back and link to articles and sections on my site instead of full articles. Then there were a couple of newsletters I’d never sent a thing to a joint newsletter I wanted to get some things pre-written for my biz partner to use in the coming weeks so she doesn’t have to come up with so much.

Focus Issues

Today I’m having a tough time getting anything done online. I can’t seem to figure out why I can’t focus on my business right now. I have a list here by me of things that really MUST be completed. Yet I’ve wasted at least 3 hours. Now I did go through a few emails, so that was productive. But it wasn’t any of the important things on my list.

Holding Back

It’s not easy for me to hold back. I have so many ideas, so many domain names waiting to be built on. It’s overwhelming. Hence, my big need to get rid of the dead weight right?

I have some sites with a lot of info built up on my computer behind the scenes ready to go. As my clients have needed questions answered I’ve done a good job of creating how-to documents. These will be used for filling up the next site that I’m just dieing to get up and running. But I’m being good and waiting. I can’t put them up until I get everything else in control and/or sold off. That’s my rules right now, no matter how much it’s driving me nuts. lol

2010 is HERE!

I’m excited. I’m not sad to see 09 leave like some are. It wasn’t my best year, but that also means it was a good year. The amount of info I learned in 2009 is incredible. Considering how much my biz’s grew last year in spite of how I feel I did, I need to move on and grow. This is something I can definitely do.

Buying Websites

As I work through my own deadweight some other ideas were brought up in comments about buying some of mine. These came up from someone that I’m helping to let go of her own deadweight. Buying one of my sites MAY not help with that. lol BUT there are some reasons to look into buying a website instead of using your current site.

1. Does this site incorporate a few of your sites into one domain? If so then it is something you should look into buying. Putting a couple of the sites you already have going and focusing all the energy on one could be very helpful in getting your to-do list completed.

Pushing Ahead in 2010

If you read my post from mid December, then you know that my first goal is to lose some business deadweight.

This year has been crazy-nuts. I’ve had a few downs with some deaths and illness or injuries, but for the most part it’s been the ups that have created the most chaos.

2009 Deadweight

Well it’s the end of the year and this brings reflection on everything. As the super busy holiday season jumps into full swing it means less time to get many things done. But that also helps point out some major things for my business(s). As my time gets more limited my to do list has to get smaller and more jump to the most important things to get done.

The Balance Challenge for Women Entrepreneurs

Not so many years ago, many women didn’t work outside the home. Nowadays, it’s becoming increasingly common, particularly as children get older. This creates many challenges that women in past generations didn’t face.

These new challenges include balancing children and work, making time for yourself, making time for your partner, dealing with the responsibilities of running a household… The list goes on an on.

Even with a completely supportive partner, families may still find it difficult to juggle so many responsibilities. And women may feel that they’re falling short all the time, which in turn can lead to unhappiness and even ill health.
