What will you offer to these moms? Well, your product is as close as your memory. Your expertise is the product you can market to moms everywhere. There are situations that you have encountered and overcome as a mom that other mothers are facing too. They could benefit from what you know to make their life a bit easier.

Packaging your Product – EBooks

Put your advice down on paper or computer document. You probably have a lot of good advice to offer but it won’t sound like much unless you can get it out of your brain and into a legible format. If you have a talent for writing this will be less of a challenge for you. Take a writing course to bone up on the finer points of writing outlines and organizing your thoughts on paper.

Your format for these organized thoughts is an eBook. Everyone has heard of them but might not know exactly what they are. An eBook is essentially a book in digital form. You can create and publish them yourself without any fancy software. For the work that you put into the project, you are greatly rewarded with pure profit.

The first consideration is the length of your eBook. A typical eBook can have as few as 70 pages or as many as 150. People will pay more for longer eBooks full of useful information.

EBooks are popular media because they can be downloaded or printed in an instant. As soon as the payment is processed, the customer gains access to the eBook. No storage space other than what is on your computer or flash drive is needed to house the eBooks you buy. There is also the added benefit of others being able to download your pdf to read on their Kindle Wireless Reading Device

Selling your EBooks

Consider your market – other moms. Let’s say that the subject of your eBook is getting a toddler through the terrible twos and threes. Fill your eBooks with information that moms want to know:

• Tips for bedtime
• Disciplinary tips
• Going out in public
• Dealing with mom stress
• Testimonials
• True life examples

All of these ideas can be used to flesh out your eBook. These same bullet points can be selling points for your eBook. When creating the eBook website page, use snippets from stories in the book, testimonials from others who have read the book and a partial list of chapters in the eBook as advertising on the page.

Condense chapters into enticing articles that you submit to article directories. Don’t give away too much because you want moms to buy your eBooks. Supply a link to your website in the resource box.

As a mom you can join online forums to share your helpful advice with other moms. Use a link to your eBook page in your signature line for easy access. As you develop a following on these forums, other members will visit your site and see your eBooks.

EBooks can be used to share information that you have learned as a mom with other moms. They are easy to create and with a marketing strategy, can bring large profit to your business.

Loretta was kind enough to answer a few questions about her transcription business and her ebook so I could share more information with my readers. I’d like to thank Loretta for taking the time to answer the questions below.

1. Did you end up in transcription by accident or did you search out the first jobs?

I started in document coding (which is all done visually) and transcription sort of followed that. At first I didn’t pick up a lot of transcribing jobs because I was more than busy with the document coding work I had. After awhile, I realized that I really enjoyed doing transcription, so much so that it didn’t feel like work at all, so I started to applying to transcription companies that hired home workers. Before I knew it I had cut document coding out of my work life completely.

2. How many days a week do you work on transcription?

On an average week usually at least 5 days out of 7 I will be transcribing something. Sometimes it’s more, sometimes it’s less, depends on the time of year.

3. Do you find you need to take very many breaks as you are transcribing or can you work for hours at a time?

In general I like to take a 10 minute break every hour whether I’m transcribing, reading, researching, or whatever. Stretch, walk around, get a drink, go outside for a few minutes, do anything but sit on my butt staring at the monitor. Otherwise computer butt and twitchy eye start to happen!

4. What led you to create transcription crash course?

I created the course because I was being asked so frequently about how to get started, what I used, and what a person might need. I figured it was just time to write it all down and share it with the masses. I hope I did a good job explaining everything and showing what it is that I do.

5. Do you work for local companies or only online clients?

Both! Mostly online, but every now and then I pick up an offline client too. Usually they are temporary overflow work, but I’ve had a few long term offline clients as well. I think a person could easily fill their schedule with offline clients alone, it’s just not something that I’ve focused on personally.

You can get to work within days as a general transcriptionist. A general transcriptionist needs to be able to listen to spoken notes and type them in a format that is understandable not only to the person who gave the dictation, but also to a third party reader looking over your documents. This means you have to be able to type, but also think on your feet, to interpret what people are saying, and understand a variety of voices.

One of the benefits of being a general transcriptionist is that there is very little start-up cost to get your business going. In fact my good friend Loretta has an awesome ebook “Transcription Crash Course“, that will walk you through getting started immediately with no money spent on equipment or software except for the computer you already own.

Getting work as a transcriptionist not only requires you to be able to type quickly, you also have to be able to do it accurately. Your skills will improve as you work, but you have to have some skill before you get started. If you aren’t the best at typing, don’t worry; just keep going until you get it. Practice, practice, practice.

Also, practice listening to someone and typing what they’re saying at the same time. You will want to brush up on your spelling and grammar. Spell check will catch some of these, but not all of them, and it takes longer to fix than to do it right the first time.

Once you have everything you are ready to go. There are a lot of online sites, like Elance, that post work for you to bid on. Just make sure you have a quality cover letter ready to send. You may have to start out slow, but if you build quality results and reviews, you’ll eventually get the business you’re looking for.

I’ve read every word and it is spot on with her recommendations. This ebook is more than just spouting things you’ve already heard or loading up affiliate links for products you don’t need. This is literally how she has built her very successful transcription business that allows her to work from home full time and spend very little, if any money.

What are eBooks?

EBooks are digital reading media that is easy to pass along to others. Many are opting for electronic books over printed books these days for several reasons. One, eBooks are shorter versions of more traditional books that can be created and published by you.

Secondly, eBooks are easy to use and store. They fill files on your computer instead of space on bookshelves in your home. EBooks can be read in PDF format online or printed to take with you. Unlike traditional books, as soon as you order an eBook, you can have access to it in minutes.

What does that mean to you?

Do you like to write? If you have a way with words and a talent for enticing readers, you can use eBooks to bring a profit to your blog or website. Use your niche as subject matter for your eBooks. Since you already have knowledge about, say, Internet marketing, put your experience to work by offering it to others in the form of an eBook.

The cost to you is negligible. An eBook can be composed in a Word document on your computer. Use Microsoft Publisher to format your work and add extras to attract readers. Turn your Word document into a PDF file for easier downloading and printing by customers.

Selling EBooks

Now that you have created this eBook, you’ll need to find a way to get it into people’s hands. Marketing your eBook follows the same lines as marketing your website or blog.

Use article marketing to draw attention to your eBooks. Create an article series based on your eBook. Submit these articles to article sites and on your blog or website. Give just enough information in the articles to have the reader wanting to know more. In the resource box, mention the eBook and link to your website. Submit articles to social bookmarking sites with links to your website page showcasing the eBooks.

For customer ease, link your eBooks with your checkout process. Once the customer pays (PayPal, credit card, debit card) they will receive a link via email or automatically where they can download your product.

EBooks cost you next to nothing to produce so the money you make is all profit. Turn your writing skills and expertise in a certain area into money for your business.

eBooks are one of the most popular forms of content on the Internet today. They’re easy to publish, eco-friendly, and virtually free to distribute.

Do you sell digital products?  How do you deliver those products?

I sincerely hope that you are using instant download.  It is a minimal cost depending on the other functions you want. E-junkie starts at only $5 and can put upto 10 products. If you can not afford this as a business, then you are not serious about selling your product. My preference and what I use is Wahm Cart because I have more control and there are no additional costs. I have a lot of ebooks I want to add and I can put up lists and autoresponders. PLUS!, I can have the affiliate program right there with the shopping cart.

What is my point? I bought an ebook in the early, early hours on sat. night. I was going to be up for hours and again had time the today that I REALLY wanted to read this ebook. I didn’t get a link to the download instantly. I checked my email all night, morning and day and paid very close attention to my spam folder. No link/email.

I was very disappointed. Typically when I purchase an ebook it means I have the time immediately to read it. That doesn’t happen often. So now my window is not open any longer and I have to make time to read it. I emailed the site because I did want to make sure it wasn’t a malfunction of the shopping cart. I would totally understand that and definitely want to let other’s know if there are issues they wouldn’t be aware of. I’m so thankful when I get emails letting me know problems on my sites. But the email I got back was not the case. THEY SEND OUT EACH EBOOK THEMSELVES!!!

Are you kidding me? You’ve got to be kidding me. Really? All of this technology and supposedly you are so intune with the WAHM and you are going to wait until who know’s when to deliver a digital product? WOW. I’m not going to pass on the site, but it’s been around a long time and the traffic alone would make me want to purchase it, as it is for sale. BUT wow, it wouldn’t have to be for sale if they were in touch with the internet.

Ladies, if you learn anything from my site it is this. AUTOMATE! Do not make people wait unnecessarily for products. Or even worse, send an email to you about it like I did. Believe me, this product could be the best thing since ice cream, but I will not recommend it to anyone now because I can’t trust how long it would have taken to get to me if I hadn’t emailed them. Very poor business.
