Organize Your Desk

photo © 2006 noricum | more info (via: Wylio)A messy work area will significantly impede your productivity. If you can’t find an important file or even find a space for your laptop, you will waste valuable time looking for the file or just clearing off space. Worse still, clutter can be demoralizing and foster procrastination.  Believe me I know, I’m the queen of procrastination and work hard to fight it. Fortunately, decluttering your desk is possible – in just a few simple steps. Get to cleaning now.
1) Manage your time. …

Doing Some Local Meetups

For those that may not know, I live in the South Puget Sound. Hence, I am under 20 miles from Seattle, however that translates to an hour commute with our awesome traffic and even longer depending on the direction and time of day.
But that aside, it’s always driven me nuts that I don’t know about any local big online events until the weekend of or after. WTF? I am not bragging when I say that I am a social media nut and I also include local media …

Update on Energy Drains

I posted last week on mental energy drains and how they have been affecting me. For the record there are quite a few posts I make that get post-dated quite a bit. I want to make sure that none are associated with anyone unless I actually specify a person.
I’d like to do an update on last weeks post as it was definitely a turning point in my summer. It also took me much longer to recover my mojo than ever before. But then again, I’ve never …

Mental Energy Drains

Ever since Kelly McCausey put up her post about mixed priorities, I’ve been doing some serious thinking. Reading the post has really stuck in my head. I know when this is the case then there is something going on and I have been ignoring it or just too busy to focus correctly.
It’s a little of both in this case. I’ve been ignoring how much energy a project is taking over everything else. Not in a good way, it’s taking more energy than it’s worth and much …

Deals for the Week

My first sites were and still are scrapbooking. I’ve narrowed it down to 2 active sites and one that needs a new owner to love it.
Getting Crissy’s email about plr rights to her incredible workshop, was exactly what I wanted to hear and what could help bring an extra spark back into one of my sites. She’s sold this previously as a how to get your craft biz online workshop, but has reworked it so it will fit all businesses. It is a highly marketable …

Hiding on Social Media

Yes, there seems to be a theme to this week. My kids start school again on the 1st, but of course we are quickly getting into back-to-school mode. My daughter is already at soccer tryouts/practice and we’re getting up in the mornings again. I can feel a routine starting and I don’t think any of you can understand how much it pains me to admit…but I’m looking forward to some structure.
One thing I’m already on my way to controlling is my social media. I’m hiding out …

Guilt is Unproductive

So how has your summer been? Busy? Working a lot? Playing with family? Did you get everything done for everyone online and off? WAS THERE HOPE OF THAT HAPPENING?!!!
Yep, the guilt. I (and you as well) can’t do everything for everyone offline and in your business. It won’t happen. It will never happen. I can’t spend quality family time and be on my computer at the same time and expect 100% of my attention to be on both. Is that …
