2009 Deadweight
Well it’s the end of the year and this brings reflection on everything. As the super busy holiday season jumps into full swing it means less time to get many things done. But that also helps point out some major things for my business(s). As my time gets more limited my to do list has to get smaller and more jump to the most important things to get done.
This means that some stuff doesn’t make the cut. For me this causes reflection on whether those projects are important to me or if they are time wasters. Do I have a passion for that project/site/blog any more or is it just dead weight? Then there is one major thing as well. If it’s not a real passion anymore, is it at least making some money? If the answer is no to both then why am I carrying it around?
The next few weeks some sites/blogs will be getting sold off. Some for dirt cheap as I want to focus on the projects that are productive and true to my heart. It’s only fair to myself, my family and my business partners to put all my effort into what is working.
Are you going over your 2009 goals and looking ahead?

I hear you there. I need to do the same thing and you have just given me the little bump I need to get this going.
Well the feeling is mutual, we’ll push each other to let go of them!
AMEN! I too am dropping some of the deadweight.
For me though, dropping the deadweight is more about re-working some things. As you mentioned in your post … some things are just time wasters.
So I don’t know that I’ll be dropping any particular sites or blogs. But I do know that I will be dropping some tasks that come with each. Besides dropping tasks, I’ll also be working on streamlining some of the ones I do keep.
To be quite honest with you … and very blunt … 2009 sucked for me. In so many ways. Mentally, physically and financially. That itself made the business-side very hard to keep up with which in turn made that suck as well. When you’re down, you’re down.
I myself am more than happy to say GOODBYE to 2009 and have been welcoming in 2010 with wide open arms. The thought of being able to start fresh has just been a tremendous help to me. Bring on the momentum!!
Yep, I too am MORE than happy to say goodbye to 2009 and move on
Thanks for stopping by Anita!
